Public Health Communication System (PHCS)


PHCS is part of the HCPHES public health preparedness program. The role of this network is to inform, educate and empower the Harris County community during a public health threat or emergency.

     PHCS Goals

Develop a network of community partners who will provide accurate, informative and redundant messages disseminated through a variety of communication modes.

Increase community awareness of and access to public health and emergency preparedness resources.

  • Libraries, Schools & Community Centers
  • Hospitals, Colleges & Businesses
  • Non-Profit Organizations
  • Community Based Organizations
  • Media (TV, radio or print)
  • Housing & Apartment Associations
  • Other community organizations
  • EMS
 
  • Role of the Community Partner
    The Community Partner agrees to disseminate information to the community by utilizing their respective communication modes during a public health threat or emergency (email, faxes, flyer and or poster display, public service announcements, public meetings, etc).
     
  • Benefit to the Community
  • Receipt of accurate and redundant messages during a public health emergency.
  • Assurance that PHCS Community Partners are committed to provide the community access to vital information during a public health threat or emergency about the Public Health Communication System
