Animal Bites

• If you have been involved in an animal bite or scratch and it has bled, it is recommended that you do the following:

• The area needs to be washed with soap and water.

• You need to be sure that you have a current tetanus shot.

• If the bite is severe, see a physician.

• Report the bite:

  • If you live inside the city limits of Houston call (713) 547-9410

  • If you live in Harris County call us at (281)999-3191 and fill out the                     Animal Bite Reporting Form

Make every attempt to find the owner of the animal or at least keep the animal in sight to assist the animal control officer who will do the investigating.
