Trapping Program |
HCPHES Veterinary Public Healthhas a trapping program designed to assist citizens with the capture of stray or feral dogs and cats.Dog and cat humane traps may be delivered to the citizens of Harris County who have filled out a trap agreement and returned it to HCPHES Veterinary Public Health. This agreement requires the citizen to monitor the trap, take responsibility for the trap, and advise Animal Control when an animal has been captured. It also allows the Animal Control Officer to have access to the property where the trap is set. When HCRAC receives a call about a dog or cat in a trap, the Animal Control Officer will then go to the trap location, remove the animal, leave the trap and bring the animal to our facility. Normally if there is no activity at the trap location in five (5) working days, the Animal Control Officer would be dispatched to the location to remove the trap. If there are animals being trapped, it is the responsibility of the citizen to request an extension on the use of the trap
