Keeping Our Kids SafeInformation for school nurses, daycare centers, and classrooms with pets. Anytime children and animals meet there is the possibility of a bite. An animal that bites is not necessarily rabid. However, all human bites inflicted by warm-blooded animals (puncture wounds or skin lacerations) are investigated in an attempt to preclude transmission of the disease. Quarantine requirements vary depending on the species and vaccination status of the animal involved. |
