South Harris County. Under the Supervision of the WIC Supervisor, the Nutrition Assistant helps by completing forms, entering data in the computer, gathering information from WIC applicants and educating clients about the WIC Program.  Responsibilities also include setting up the work area providing nutrition education classes, obtaining heights/weights, hemoglobin and other clinical or clerical duties  Requires at least one year of work experience and a High School Diploma or GED.

WIC NUTRITIONIST                                      14424-P

South Harris County.  The WIC Nutritionist is responsible for determining WIC Program eligibility of applicants, providing counseling and nutrition education to client individually or in groups, assigning food package prescriptions, evaluating the need for special formulas and participating in quality assurance activities on a monthly basis.  At times the Nutritionist will evaluate clients for income and residency requirements, perform laboratory evaluations of growth and iron status and do data entry an food voucher issuance.   Requires at least one year of professional work experience as a Dietitian, Nutritionist, Nurse or Physician in public    health, hospital, clinic, nursing home, or school preferred.  Completion of a Master’s Degree or an internship or Coordinated Undergraduate Program approved by the Commission on Registration of the  American Dietetic Association may substitute for one year of work experience.
