Tomball WIC Clinic Welcomes Community

The Tomball WIC Center, administered by Harris County Public Health & Environmental Services (HCPHES), will hold an “Outreach Day” on Saturday, May 20th from 9:00am until 1:00pm.  The HCPHES Tomball WIC Center is located at 701 East Main Street, Suite 145B across from Concordia Lutheran High School in the East Side Center.

Visitors will have the opportunity to visit various booths and receive information about such topics as breastfeeding, healthy snacks for children, and infant feeding.  There will also be door prizes awarded to several lucky visitors.  Current WIC clients, as well as other members of the community, are invited and encouraged to attend.

WIC, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children provides nutrition education and food vouchers to pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to age five who have a nutritional need.  WIC also provides breastfeeding assistance and referrals for health and social services.  The income guidelines for WIC allow a family of four to earn as much as $37,000 annually and still be eligible for the program.  Often working parents who do not qualify for other types of assistance are eligible for WIC.

For more information about the event, or for a WIC appointment, please call the HCPHES Tomball WIC Center at (281) 255-3881.

WIC IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM.  STANDARDS FOR ELIGIBILITY AND PARTICIPATION IN THE WIC PROGRAM ARE THE SAME FOR EVERYONE, REGARDLESS OF SEX, RACE, COLOR, CREED, AGE, NATIONAL ORIGIN, DISABILITY, OR POLITICAL BELIEFS.
