Pushcarts must meet the requirements for mobile food units
as well as the following additional specifications:
CONSTRUCTION OF PUSHCART
- The pushcart shall not exceed four feet in width, eight feet
in length, and eight feet in height, including the
pushcart’s shade umbrella.
- In the event of an emergency, the pushcart must be easily
moveable, controllable, and maneuverable by one person when
the pushcart is fully loaded.
- The bottom of the pushcart shall be at least one foot from
the ground.
- The pushcart shall be non-motorized.
- Each pushcart shall have protective glass guards and a roof
or shade umbrella to protect against exposure to insects,
rodents, dust, or other contamination. (Solid or screen
doors and windows are not required.)
EQUIPMENT
- Each person shall have a litter receptacle attached to the
unit, available, clearly marked, and maintained for patron
use. The litter receptacle shall not have less than a
twenty-gallon capacity and shall be composed of leak-proof,
non-absorbent materials.
- The interior of the pushcart shall be equipped with cabinet
units or compartments. All food contact surfaces shall be
smooth, easily accessible, and cleanable. Unfinished or
unpainted wood shall not be used as a food contact surface.
- Pushcarts shall have the minimum of a two-compartment sink
for sanitizing equipment and a separate hand washing
facility with hot and cold running water under pressure.
- All equipment must be permanently installed on the pushcart.
No equipment such as BBQ pits, cookers or tables shall be
used with the carts unless they are part of the cart itself.
LOCATION OF PUSHCART
- All pushcart operators must have written, notarized
permission from the owners of the property where they wish
to operate.
TOILET FACILITIES
- All pushcarts must be located within 300
feet of restroom facilities. Written
permission for access to the facility must
be obtained and kept on the unit.
SERVICING
- All pushcarts must return to an approved commissary
each day of operation for cleaning and other services.
Documentation or a receipt showing that the pushcart has
been serviced by an approved commissary in the 24 hours
proceeding each day of operation must be kept on the
pushcart.
