
This section provides a comprehensive approach to the
promotion and improvement of oral health combining a population-based dental
prevention education program with the provision of dental clinical services
to children in need.
Population-Based Education/Promotion Program
The Dental Health Promotion/Education program reaches 16 Harris County
school districts consisting of over 276 primary and elementary schools with
prevention education services including Smile Saver Containers of
educational materials and videotapes, school nurse consultations,
toothbrushes, presentations, oral screenings and Harris County Public Health
& Environmental Services Clinic information.
Dental Clinical Services for Children
Harris County’s Antoine and Southeast Children’s Dental Clinics provide
quality dental services to indigent children age 1-20 years including
diagnostic, preventive, restorative and surgical procedures, as well as
educating families about dental disease prevention practices.
