Should YOU be on the School Health Leadership Group?

Joining the SHLG

Each Harris County Independent School District is invited to send two or three persons to participate in the School Health Leadership Group who are leaders in one of the eight coordinated school health component areas that impacts school health.  Most districts identify their School Health Coordinator, Child Nutrition Director, and District Health/PE Coordinator as their representatives.

Leaders who participate in the SHLG are expected to:

(1) be able to identify and disseminate information received back to the
    appropriate people in your district,

(2) be able to discuss what is occurring in your district regarding school health
and be an expert in your field, and

(3) be recognized by others as someone who can make changes happen. We
often refer to these folks as our “movers and shakers,” however this person
does not have to be a “decision maker.”

By participating, or appointing someone to participate, you can help your district create a healthy school district climate that benefits not only the students, but also the teachers, and other staff.
