School Health Index (SHI)
The SHI is a self-assessment and
planning tool that schools can use to improve their health and
safety policies and programs. It’s easy to use and completely
confidential. This free resource can be downloaded and is also
available as an online tool.

This guide is organized around
sample policies that reflect best practice, which can be adapted to
fit local circumstances. The sample policies are written as
statements of best practice. The policies can be adapted or revised
