The Healthy Places /
Healthy Environment Program participates in the three
core functions of public health—assessment, policy
development, and assurance. These core public health
functions serve as a broad framework for us to describe
the scope of our activities. The “Assurance” core
function of public health is defined as follows:
Assurance means
public health efforts are made to enforce laws and
regulations, assure provisions of health care, and
evaluating health care programs effectiveness,
accessibility and quality.
The Environmental
Health Assurance activities include:
1. Linking the
community to resources for physical activity.
2. Linking the
community to resources for healthy homes.
