Community Water 5 8 Train-the-Trainer Workshop– Dates and location to be announced soon. HCPHES Water Safety Program facilitates train-the-trainer workshops where community volunteers learn how to plan and conduct water safety events/talks for children and parents in their communities to learn prevention strategies.  Water safety presentations are conducted in apartment communities, libraries, churches and health fairs.

Water Safety Presentations are provided upon request to schools, community/civic group meetings, daycares, churches, libraries and parent meetings.  We educate children and parents about safe practices that reduce the risks of drowning.  A child can drown in and outside the home in as little as 2 inches of water.  Close adult/parent supervision is stressed and demonstrated  along with other strategies wearing personal floatation devices, and other safety practices in and around all bodies of water.

April Pools Day an annual event to raise public awareness and help prevent drowning injuries.  Families and children learn primary swimming skills, proper

life-jacket fitting and use,  drowning prevention skills to help stay safe in and around the water.

Community groups/organizations can design their own April Pools Day to best fit their needs.   This webpage contains information and materials to help you prepare and promote your April Pools Day event.
