April Pools Day
provides a great opportunity for local schools,
churches and other community organizations to
work together to increase public awareness of
drowning prevention. Harris County
Public Health and Environmental Services (HCPHES)
is partnering with
local agencies and
organizations to promote drowning awareness
beginning:
April 1, 2008
This
webpage encourages organizations to plan and
conduct water safety awareness events during the
month of April and continue throughout the
season. On this site you will find
resources to help design an April Pools Day
event in your community.
Each facility
(public and private) can plan and host program
activities in their communities that
emphasize parental/adult supervision, water
safety skills practice, life jacket education,
recreational swim and “hands-on” water safety
demonstrations.
